I have managed to keep my heart rate very low and my legs fresh by staying in bed every morning for the past week

6km this morning in 38:49. Despite the legs still feeling a little tired, I was happy to get the training pace back under 6:30min/km.

Lovely cold mornings which are ideal for running. Not too cold that it's uncomfortable.

Last night I had an awesome 7k run. Just felt so light and free. Time to start working on some speed-work and just have fun again.

Once again, I'm down with a cough and an upper respiratory chest infection! So no running now since Wednesday.

This is the third time in less than 12 months, so it's really frustrating, especially as the training appeared to be going so well.

I'm hoping to be over it by Saturday to run the Half-Marathon at Glenfair Shopping Centre, which I've pre-entered.

Needless to say, all the running plans for the long weekend have gone out of the window!

I had the same last week, so on friday the Mrs. told me to go run before she kills me. Did a 3km run to a friend, had a couple of beers, ran back.

Did another 6km yesterday, nothing hectic - but today Im stiff as if I ran a hard 21km.

I thought I was coming down with something and as a result, I haven't run for a week.

But the onset of the 'flu didn't happen and seemed to disappear as quick as it was starting, so I went out this morning and did a 5km "tester" to see how I felt.

All good - very slow 5km in 33:40, but no adverse affects, so I guess I can recommence the training programme!
